Flyers Stun Racers, 5-3
|
The Pennsauken Flyers took Indianapolis pitcher Mark Erwin's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Pennsauken Park. The final score had Pennsauken getting past the Racers, 5-3. Erwin went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run, striking out 7. Pennsauken reliever Joshua Neal picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Oakland Scanlan absorbed the loss. Indianapolis, at 18-19, has lost 5 straight.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Kasper Schuilenberg came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Indianapolis pitcher Oakland Scanlan, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Pennsauken on top, 4-3.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Schuilenberg said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
