Multi-HR Day for Piña as Redbirds Overpower Racers, 8-7
|
Memphis third baseman Chris Piña had a 5-RBI performance, which helped his team grab a 8-7 win over the Indianapolis Racers. Memphis reliever I-tsing Ts'ong was the winner. His record is now 1-1. Kazuhiko Higuchi took the loss. The Redbirds move to 17-17 with the win, while the Racers drop to 18-16.
Piña contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Memphis in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-0, Piña took a fastball from Ismael Pérez and stroked the home run to right. His 8th home run of the season allowed the Redbirds to leap in front, 3-2.
In postgame comments to the Memphis Daily, Piña said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
