Patriots Subdue Philadelphia 1776, 4-3
|
The Boston Patriots defeated the Philadelphia 1776 BC, 4-3, in United States Premier League action at Ben Franklin Memorial Coliseum, with Boston pitcher Firpo Marberry named player of the game. Boston reliever Aldo Ottens picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-2. Butch Cummings was collared with the loss. Boston bumps their record to 11-18 with the win.
It could have been a different outcome for Boston, had it not been for Alfredo Araújo, the 24-year old catcher . Araújo contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Boston up, 4-3.
Araújo told a Boston Times reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
