Fighting Dachsunds Bang Out 6-1 Win Versus Hamilton
|
Ellenburg used a superb performance from starting pitcher Ricky Sellers to down the Hamilton Coyotes, 6-1. In 6 innings, Sellers surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Paul Zucarelli got credit for the save for Ellenburg. It was his 1st of the year.
The Fighting Dachsunds used some clutch hitting to beat the Coyotes, a good example being the at-bat of Leonard Hammond in the bottom of the second. With two down, Hammond gave his team the lead, 2-1, when he hit a 2-run home run.
In comments to the Ellenburg Daily, Sellers admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
The Coyotes fall to 4-8 and continue their uneasy start to the 2039 season.
