Racers Take Down Buzz, 5-1
|
The Indianapolis Racers went home winners at Spirits Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Stephen Palmer. Palmer silenced the Salt Lake City Buzz, enabling Indianapolis to grab the 5-1 win. Palmer picked up the win for Indianapolis, going 7.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1. The loss drops Salt Lake City to 6-1.
Indianapolis used the timely hitting of Esteban Piñeiro to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put the Racers on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I like winning," Piñeiro told the Indianapolis Bulletin. "I may joke around, but when it comes down to it, winning is the most important thing."
