Evergreens Lose, 2-1, at Atlantica
|
Atlantica was the site of a competitive game between the Portland Evergreens and Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids.
The Rainbow Mermaids grabbed a win, 2-1, at Atlantica, overcoming a fine effort from Portland pitcher Giovanni Mireles. Mireles went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Northern Virginia reliever Javier Ariza picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Branlyn Jaraba was saddled with the loss. Brewster Warble picked up the save for Northern Virginia, his 8th of the year.
Northern Virginia took a 2-1 lead on Tim Stinson's 2nd home run of the season. The solo home run came off Portland pitcher Branlyn Jaraba in the bottom of the seventh.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Stinson. "And not try to do too much."
Northern Virginia leads the Premier League by 3½ games.
