Browns Score Late, Upend Lakers, 7-2
|
Cleveland rode a fine outing from starter Gerald Orlebar to victory over the Echo Park Lakers at Factory of Sadness. The final score was 7-2. Cleveland reliever Ryunosuke Kurota got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Wop Baars was tagged with the loss. The Browns saw their record improve to 14-11.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Spartak Gonjarov came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Echo Park pitcher Tate Beason, he hit a 2-2 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Cleveland on top, 3-2.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Gonjarov.
