Joyner 5-for-7 for Ellesmere Island
Tuesday, July 20th, 2038
There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day.
Ken Joyner is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-7 against the Northwest Territory Beavers at Beaver Town today. The monster effort from the 20-year-old shortstop helped the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople take the win, 19-3.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Beavers manager Tom Carlson. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today."
Ken Joyner grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
For the season Joyner has hit .371 with no home runs and 30 RBIs. He has played in 62 games and scored 44 times.
