Makepeace Parks 3 HR in the Seats Sunday, May 30th, 2038 Franklin Fire third baseman Zak Makepeace sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little. Prior to the start of today's contest with the Surprise Shockers, Makepeace told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from Makepeace pushed the Fire past the Shockers, 9-7. To go along with the homers, he collected 7 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Makepeace told reporters after the game. Zak Makepeace hit a two-run home run off Jonathan Klein in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Jonathan Klein in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Ray Hart in the 7th and struck out in the 9th. This year Makepeace is batting .259 with 6 home runs and 20 RBIs. |
