At the age of 18, Kiyotaka Matsunaga says he still has a lot to learn about life in USPL Rookie.

But he certainly seems to be a quick study, as the Ballard Beavers reliever was better than all others this year and has captured the 2038 USPL Rookie Reliever of the Year Award.

"I hope to win this a few more times before all is said and done in my career," the Katano, Japan native said.

For the season, Matsunaga had 4 saves in 29 relief appearances, which totaled 63.2. He fanned 74 betters, while walking 10 and put up a record of 5-0 to go with his 1.98 ERA.

He received 10 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Nick Ramey of the Tulsa Otters finished second in voting, while Juan Carmona of the Long Island Ducks finished third.
