Blue Sox End Lawrence's Streak Thursday, June 3rd, 2038 It was a doubly miserable day today for Ron Lawrence of the Virginia Beach Whales, as he saw his 23-game hitting streak end and his team lose 3-2 to the Irving Blue Sox at Virginia Beach Grounds. The 27-year-old third baseman was held hitless in 4 at-bats by the Blue Sox. "Anyone on a 23-game hitting streak is going to be a tough out," Irving manager Bill Clark said later. "But we had a plan and we were careful about it, and got it done." On the year Lawrence is hitting .412 with 40 hits, 8 home runs, 33 RBIs, .504 OBP and has scored 25 runs. |
