Verano Nabs PAAA #1 Pitcher Trophy Wednesday, September 1st, 2038 Any time a rookie makes a splash on the scene, it's got to be great for his career potential. Just ask Jelexiz Verano, who put together a stellar month out of the pen. The Bakersfield Nobles reliever, 22, kept the opposition off balance all month as he held them to a .211 average and walked away with the USPL Triple A Pitcher of the Month award for August. Verano posted a 3-0 mark and a 1.42 ERA in 8 relief appearances. In 19 innings, he had 2 saves, 16 strikeouts, and 6 walks. This year Verano has made 9 relief appearances with 2 saves.
