Echo Park's Yamamoto Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits
Tuesday, July 20th, 2038
A jubilant Ryoma Yamamoto joined the postgame press conference at Boeing Dome today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Seattle Rocketeers pitching staff he had just vanquished.
"It may not have looked like it," said the Echo Park Lakers second baseman, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."
That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led the Lakers to a 8-1 win.
"He made it look easy," said Mau Delgado, manager of the Rocketeers. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."
Ryoma Yamamoto singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and tripled in the 9th.
Looking at his season stats, Yamamoto has compiled a .264 batting average and a .344 on-base percentage, while hitting 3 home runs and driving in 22 runs.
