Total Control: Grim No-Hit by Richmond
Wednesday, June 30th, 2038
The Cape Coral Reefers relied on no-hit stuff from starter Ken Richmond to defeat the Grim Reapers 4-0 at Margaritaville Park today.
"It's quite a thrill," Richmond told the media afterward. "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."
To get his name logged in the M3L Single A records, he stopped Grim cold and hitless, surrendering 3 walks and fanning 13 of the 32 batters he faced.
Cape Coral manager Rickey Jones was in a jovial mode after the game, kidding with reporters that Richmond "made managing easy today."
"I didn't have hardly any decisions to make like I usually do," he said. "I didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter."
So far in 9 appearances this season, Richmond has recorded 2 wins and sustained 5 losses. He has pitched 50.1 innings, yielded 50 hits, fanned 50 and has a 6.62 ERA.
