Hotspur Lick Outlaws, 14-2
|
The exploits of third baseman Myles Brundidge, the 16th overall pick in the 2034 draft, helped the Phoenix Hotspur defeat the Nashville Outlaws, 14-2. Brundidge was 4 for 5 with a triple and 3 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Masahiro Sakei, who went 7.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 2 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 5-3. Phoenix bumps their record to 43-47 with the win.
Tied up with the Outlaws in the top of the fourth inning, the Hotspur got a boost from catcher Quan Easterling. With the bases loaded, Easterling saw a 1-2 curveball from Craig Fitzgerald and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Phoenix on top, 4-2.
"We did a lot of things right," said Easterling.
