Rainbow Mermaids Solve Silver Sox, 5-2

The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids picked up a win at Atlantica, knocking off the Chicago Silver Sox, 5-2. Starting pitcher Ricardo García was an essential part of his team's success. García got the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 5 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. García allowed 2 earned runs. Brewster Warble sewed up the save, his 4th.
The Silver Sox had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Rainbow Mermaids going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the slugging first baseman Jason Schneider came to the plate. Schneider hit a run-scoring single on a 0-1 fastball from Chicago hurler Gus Osborne. It was Schneider's 26th hit of the year.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Schneider, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
Northern Virginia is off to a hot start at 15-5.
