Phoenix center fielder Martín Talia had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Talia went 3-4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2, even as Las Vegas beat the Hotspur, 6-3. Talia was named the player of the game despite the loss. Las Vegas starter Wally Copeland was credited with the win after throwing 93 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 7-1. Vaugh Chesser recorded his 20th save for Las Vegas.
In the top of the first, Lao Tian pounced on a splitter from Rook Ellington and hit a run-scoring triple. It gave Las Vegas a quick 1-0 lead.
"Enjoyed this one," Tian told the Las Vegas Today. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The Flamingos raised their record to 49-35.
