White Walkers Prevail, 2-0, Over Mississippi
|
The Buffalo White Walkers picked up a win at Magnolia Park, knocking off the Mississippi Mockingbirds, 2-0. Starting pitcher Zhao-ji Qiu played a key role in the triumph. In 8 innings, Qiu surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Woodward Haberdash was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 18 of 20 save opportunities.
Buffalo relied on the hitting of Derek Bangert to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the White Walkers on top, 2-0. For the game, Bangert had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Big team win," Qiu said later.
With the win, Buffalo goes to 39-39, while the Mockingbirds fall to 27-51.
