Divided Continue Skid Thanks to van Claveren, Hotspur
|
Phoenix and D.C. duked it out at Chase Field and the Hotspur came out victorious.
Phoenix second baseman Jonas van Claveren was a significant contributor in his team's 7-4 triumph over the D.C. Divided. He was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4 for Phoenix. The save was credited to Tony Ramírez, his 3rd.
Had van Claveren not come through in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, van Claveren hit a grand slam. The Hotspur never looked back after taking the 7-4 lead.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," van Claveren said.
The Divided, now 26-40, have lost 5 straight.
