Battery Topple Rainbow Mermaids with Late Rally
The Charleston Battery trumped the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 6-5, at Charleston Armory. Charleston catcher Ryan French was named player of the game for his performance. He went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Charleston reliever Kenete Daku picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Tom King was saddled with the loss. Losses have been rare for the Rainbow Mermaids, who are now 14-4.

In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 5-5, pinch hitter Tony Romero won it for Charleston. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Romero hit a 0-1 cutter from Tom King for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 6-5 win.

"Feels good to get the job done," French said after the game.
