Athletic Club KC Academy Hammered by Park, Drop Game 4 to Highlanders
|
The Asheville Highlanders and the Athletic Club KC Academy will take the 3L AA Championship to a decisive 5th game. In a must-win situation today, the Highlanders beat the Athletic Club KC Academy 4-2 at Asheville Park to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Asheville center fielder Tae-wan Park was named player of the game in the win after he went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times.
Carsello Scruggins, the 7th overall pick in the 2034 draft, aided the Asheville cause with a solo home run in the bottom of the first. For the game, the right fielder went 1 for 4 with a home run.
"It's true for every sport, I think, but the playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in and get hot," Asheville manager William Franklin told BNN after the win. "We took care of the first part and now we're just working on the second."
The next game is scheduled for Tuesday in Kansas City. Slated to start are Alberto Ortíz for Asheville and José Valle for Athletic Club KC Academy.
