Mercer Island Overcomes 2 HRs from Ito, Tops Minnesota in Extras for 3-2 Series Lead
|
When the games really matter, the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles put on their best show, beating the Minnesota Loons by a final score of 6-4 today. Yoshiki Ito earned player of the game honors, as he slugged 2 home runs. Mercer Island now leads Minnesota 3-2 in the best-of-5 affair.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Domingo Ramos came to bat in the bottom of the 18th. Facing Minnesota pitcher Pao-tzu Shi, he hit a full count fastball for a 2-run home run. It was a game-changer, putting Mercer Island on top, 6-4.
In postgame remarks, Ramos simply said: "Here's to a great win!"
