Kovacs, Shredders Sink Grey Wolves Again in Game
|
The Hollywood Shredders moved to within one game of the Round 2040 today, downing the Vancouver Grey Wolves on the road at Wolf Den in Vancouver by a score of 5-3. Shredders center fielder Takeshi Kovacs was named player of the game after he went 2 for 2 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. The win gives the Shredders a - advantage in the best-of- Round 2039.
Hollywood relied on the hitting of Baldomero Avino to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Shredders on top, 3-0. For the game, Avino had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It's a big deal," Avino said of the win. "If we had gone to 0- , we're pretty much out of it."
Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday. Slated to start are Sjoerd Reynoud for Vancouver and Lloyd Natoff for Hollywood.
