Whales Win, Move to Within 1 Game of Round 2
|
The Virginia Beach Whales moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Northville Eclipse at Virginia Beach Grounds by a score of 11-2. Whales second baseman Sergio San Martín was named player of the game after he went 3 for 5 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The win gives the Whales a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-5 SL AA Championship.
San Martín had an important at-bat with the bases loaded in the bottom of the first, when he hit a 2-run single. The Whales went on to win.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Virginia Beach manager Bernie Drake.
