San Martín Blasts Eclipse, Whales Take Game 3, 4-3
|
The Virginia Beach Whales moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Northville Eclipse at Virginia Beach Grounds by a score of 4-3. Whales second baseman Sergio San Martín was named player of the game after he was 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The win gives the Whales a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 SL AA Championship.
Ernest O'Neal aided the Virginia Beach cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the left fielder drove in one run.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," San Martín said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Virginia Beach Grounds in Virginia Beach. Slated to start are Roger Edwards for Northville and Travis Morgan for Virginia Beach.
