Virginia Beach Win Evens Series at 1
With right fielder Dave Thomas leading the charge, the Virginia Beach Whales got a road win over the Northville Eclipse, 8-5, in Game 2 of the SL AA Championship today. Thomas was 1 for 3 with a triple and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs at Old-Timers Park to help Virginia Beach force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-5 series.

The game turned with no one out in the top of the seventh when Thomas hit a run-scoring triple. It propelled the Whales into the lead, 3-2.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Virginia Beach manager Bernie Drake.

Game 3 is scheduled for Friday at Virginia Beach Grounds. Slated to start are Roger Edwards for Northville and Pedro López for Virginia Beach.
