Lake Monsters Win to Extend Series Lead to 2-0
Despite a great performance by Santa Barbara starter Cipriano Pinto, the Vermont Lake Monsters defeated the Golden Cranes by the score of 5-2 at Crane Field today. Pinto threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball to earn player of the game honors, but could not prevent the Lake Monsters from moving one game closer to the Round 2. Vermont now leads the SL AAA Championship 2-0.

Vermont used a timely hit from Tim O'Brian to get the win. The pinch hitter delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the ninth inning to put the Lake Monsters on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

O'Brian attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."

Game 3 is set to be played Friday at Monster Field. The scheduled starters for the game are Ryan Peterson for Santa Barbara and Marnix van Rijn for Vermont.
