Arryns Win to Extend Series Lead to 2-0
|
The Lake Erie Arryns went into extra innings against the Caldwell Chiefs but ultimately moved to within one game of the Round 2 today. The Arryns downed the Chiefs at Pipers Ballpark by a score of 3-1. Lake Erie left-hander Luis Matos was named player of the game after a solid outing in which he threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives the Arryns a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 SL A Championship.
Lake Erie used the bat of Patrick Mildren to get the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Arryns ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Mildren said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday at Arryns Ballpark. Slated to start are Lloyd Stinson for the Caldwell Chiefs and Alberto Cruz for the the Lake Erie Arryns.
