Córdova Handcuffs Chiefs, Arryns Seize 1-0 Advantage in R1
|
The Lake Erie Arryns started the SL A Championship in style today, winning on the road against the Caldwell Chiefs at Pipers Ballpark by a score of 5-3 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Arryns right-hander Marcos Córdova was named player of the game after he threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball.
Córdova, who was born in San Cristóbal, Dominican Republic, threw 114 pitches over 7.1 innings, while allowing 1 earned run.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Córdova told the Lake Erie Daily.
Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow at Pipers Ballpark in Caldwell. The scheduled starters for the game are Luis Matos for the Lake Erie Arryns and John Sparks for the the Caldwell Chiefs.
