Pivotal Game Goes to Host Rainbow Mermaids, 13-10
On the verge of being swept and facing a red-hot Hollywood Shredders team, the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids had a tough assignment. Jim Brown delivered.

The Rainbow Mermaids right fielder was unstoppable for the visitors, as he was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 times in guiding his club to its first victory of the series, 13-10. Brown, 24, was named player of the game for his efforts. The win means Northern Virginia now trails - in the best-of- series.

Northern Virginia grabbed control in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Phil McCroskey delivered a 3-run home run, to make it 13-10 in favor of the Rainbow Mermaids.

"Things aren't going great right now," Hollywood manager Bill Cheese said. "But you don't need me to tell you that."
