The Philadelphia 1776 BC moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids at Ben Franklin Memorial Coliseum by a score of 2-1. BC right-hander Gilberto Pontojá was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball. The win gives the BC a - advantage in the best-of- Round 1.
