The San Mateo Dirty Reds moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the Philadelphia 1776 BC on the road at Ben Franklin Memorial Coliseum by a score of 9-5. Dirty Reds left fielder Daniel McCoy was named player of the game after he went 3 for 5 with a triple and a double, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. The win gives the Dirty Reds a - advantage in the best-of- Silver League Championship.

San Mateo used the timely hitting of Denis Higgins to capture the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Dirty Reds on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.

McCoy called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."
