Maskell, Chicago Start Round 1 Strong with Home Win
The Chicago Silver Sox moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Portland Evergreens at Silver Sox Park by a score of 4-3. Silver Sox right-hander Rhys Maskell was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball. The win gives the Silver Sox a - advantage in the best-of- Round 1.

Ricardo Mireles aided the Chicago cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the center fielder drove in one run.

"We're happy," Mireles told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."
