Battery Win to Extend Series Lead to -
|
On the verge of being swept and facing a red-hot San Mateo Dirty Reds team, the Charleston Battery had a tough assignment. Jasper Morrison delivered.
The Battery right fielder was unstoppable for the visitors, as he was 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk in guiding his club to its first victory of the series, 3-0. Morrison, 28, was named player of the game for his efforts. The win means Charleston now trails - in the best-of- series.
The game turned with one out in the top of the fourth when Morrison, who is tied for 2nd in the PL in triples with 3, hit a solo home run. It propelled the Battery into the lead, 1-0.
"It's hard to overstate how much this mattered to us, especially in a short series," Charleston manager Matt Hunt said.
