The San Mateo Dirty Reds moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the Charleston Battery on the road at Charleston Armory by a score of 13-5. Dirty Reds first baseman Palaie Gaoteote was named player of the game after he hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. The win gives the Dirty Reds a - advantage in the best-of- Silver League Championship.

San Mateo needed the clutch hitting of Daniel McCoy to notch the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Dirty Reds on top, 3-0. For the game, McCoy had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Gaoteote said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
