Almost There: Portland On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 9-2 Win
The Portland Evergreens moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the Buffalo White Walkers on the road at Beyond the Wall by a score of 9-2. Evergreens right-hander Cristián Moreno was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 6 innings allowing 2 runs. The win gives the Evergreens a - advantage in the best-of- Round 1.

Portland used the clutch hitting of Jeff Solís to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to give the Evergreens the lead, 3-0. For the game, Solís had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.

"We're happy," Moreno told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."
