Still Kicking: Brooklyn Cut San Mateo Series Lead to - With Late Win
|
An all-important Game of the Third League Championship went into extra innings at Ebbetts Field, with the Brooklyn Dodgers eventually emerging on top. Brooklyn has Peer van Lochem to thank, after the left fielder belted 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice in the 7-6 victory. The Dodgers are now one game away from the Round 2, holding a - lead in the best-of- series.
Brooklyn's win came gift-wrapped. With two out in the bottom of the 14th, with the game tied, Félix Medina reached on an error by the left fielder, driving in 1 run.
"Obviously, we'd rather be at than - , but it's a long series," Dirty Reds manager Dean Ashley said. "We'll just have to pick up a game somewhere."
