The Portland Evergreens moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Houston 1837 BBC at Evergreen Park by a score of 8-3. Evergreens third baseman Billy Dotson was named player of the game after he went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The win gives the Evergreens a - advantage in the best-of- Round 1.

The Evergreens took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Facing Houston hurler Santiago Ramírez with one out, Dotson hit a 2-run home run.
