Round 1 Game 1 Victory for Martínez and Charleston
The Charleston Battery moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Montana Pandas at Charleston Armory by a score of 5-2. Battery right-hander Miguel Angel Martínez was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Battery a - advantage in the best-of- Round 1.

Martínez was in the zone all game. He frustrated Montana hitters while giving the Battery 8 innings of quality work. Martínez threw 102 pitches, allowing 5 hits and getting 7 punchouts.

"It's a huge change in atmosphere versus last game," Martínez said after the win. "I feel like we're back in the mix now. We just can't let up."
