Divided Continue Skid Thanks to Avino, Shredders
|
With first baseman Baldomero Avino leading the charge, the Hollywood Shredders defeated the D.C. Divided, 9-4, at Washington Stadium. Avino, who is tied for 8th in the SL in total bases with 114, went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Hollywood reliever José Villarreal picked up the win, upping his record to 6-0. Quentin Bowers took the loss. The 9th-place Divided have lost 4 straight games.
Hollywood took a 5-3 lead on James Hemwick's 17th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Hemwick hit in the top of the seventh, left D.C. pitcher Randy Gabaldon shaking his head.
"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Avino told the Hollywood Observer.
