San Bernardino Wins, Stokes 4-4
|
With first baseman Lawrence Stokes leading the charge, the San Bernardino Grasshoppers defeated the Atlantic City Sonics, 9-1, at Sonics Ballpark. Stokes, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2030 draft, went 4-4 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. San Bernardino reliever Mihai Dumitru picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Abakada Mana absorbed the loss. The win puts the Grasshoppers at 51-49, while the Sonics drop to 58-42.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the third, with the game tied, Rio Clark was at the plate when San Bernardino scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Grasshoppers to go in front, 1-0.
"We're a talented bunch when we're playing well," said Clark. "I think we showed that here."
