Grasshoppers Fall to .500 After Loss to Thunder Hawks
|
The Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks beat the San Bernardino Grasshoppers, 9-5, at Field of the Grasshoppers. The Thunder Hawks got a fine performance from second baseman Terry Kurucz, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Ft. Polk South reliever António García picked up the win to move to 6-2. David Flowers suffered the loss. Ft. Polk South now sits at 49-45, while San Bernardino falls to 47-47.
With Ft. Polk South leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Kurucz hit a fastball from David Flowers for a solo home run. It was his 11th home run of the season and put the Thunder Hawks ahead, 2-0.
"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Ft. Polk South manager John Anderson.
