Shooters Walk Off with Win

The Shooters grabbed a win, 4-3, at Springfield Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Chesapeake pitcher Paul Workman. Workman went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Springfield reliever Yasujiro Takayama was the winner. His record is now 2-4. The losing pitcher was Tom Lee. Springfield is now 33-61, Chesapeake 36-58.
The Shooters were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when pinch hitter Brendon Lewis turned a 1-0 fastball from Tom Lee into a 2-run home run. The walk-off home run sent a roar through the crowd and gave Springfield a thrilling 4-3 win.
"I know we have our doubters," said Chesapeake manager Allen Evans. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
