Raimo Kangas pitched a gem to lead Mercer Island to a 3-1 victory over the Springfield Shooters. Mercer Island reliever Bing-zhong Qiu was credited with the win, to go to 1-2. Georgy Gilyazitdinov took the loss for Springfield. Mercer Island goes to 58-30. The win puts them 4½ games up in their division.

Had Mikael Evangjeli not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Evangjeli hit a 2-run triple. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Screaming Eagles.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Springfield skipper Decheng Sun, "and it cost us."
