Thunder Hawks Need Extra Frames to Get Past Continentals
|
The Thunder Hawks had to overcome a fine effort from Chesapeake pitcher Paul Workman to grab a narrow 3-2 win at Thunder Hawks Ballpark. Workman went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Reliever António García picked up the win. His record improves to 4-2. Ramiro Valdés took the loss. The current losing streak for Chesapeake has reached 5 games.
Ft. Polk South won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With no outs and Ramiro Valdés on the mound for Chesapeake, pinch hitter Teng Xuefeng hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Thunder Hawks fans to their feet.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Xuefeng said in his postgame press conference.
