Screaming Eagles Suffer 7-4 Setback
|
The Yakima Hops defeated the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 7-4, in USPL Double A action at Mercer Island Grounds, with Yakima pitcher Marcos Salinas named player of the game. Salinas, the winner, moves to 4-4. He threw 5.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 5 walks. Yakima is now 36-44.
The Hops grabbed the lead in the top of the fourth. With no one out, Tokaji Heida, who is tied for 7th in the PAA with a .500 slugging percentage, hit a solo home run off Peer Slooters, putting Yakima in front, 2-0. For Heida, it was his 12th home run of the season.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Yakima manager Tomás Gonzáles.
