Sixshooters Win Streak Now at 6
|
Spirited fans at Hops Park greeted the Yakima Hops for their clash with the Westwood Sixshooters.
Westwood starter Pjotr Melis pitched effectively against the Yakima Hops at Hops Park. The right-hander led his team to a 3-2 win. Melis picked up the win for Westwood, going 7 innings. He gave up no runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 6-2.
Westwood used the timely hitting of Sterling Massingham to capture the win. The shortstop socked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Sixshooters ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"I like the roll we're on," said Westwood manager Cedric Fields.
The 8th-place Sixshooters have won 6 in a row.
