Fans who gathered at Sonics Ballpark saw a good contest between the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles and Atlantic City Sonics.
Mercer Island rode a decent outing from starter Peer Slooters to victory over the Atlantic City Sonics at Sonics Ballpark. The final score was 5-4. Wilson Rangel, credited with the win, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings.
It could have been a different outcome for Mercer Island, had it not been for Charles Basle, the 27-year old right fielder . Basle contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Mercer Island up, 5-4.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Slooters said.
Mercer Island improves to 48-23 with the win. They lead their division by 5 games.
