Palladium Sox Rally to Eke Out Win

The Virginia Palladium Sox did just enough to sneak past the Chesapeake Continentals, 5-4, at Palladium Labs. Virginia shortstop Tom Matthews earned player of the game honors. Virginia reliever Santtu Öunap picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-2. Ramiro Valdés was collared with the loss. The 6th-place Palladium Sox have won 9 in a row.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 12th inning, when Virginia designated hitter Dave Lewis, facing Ramiro Valdés, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Palladium Sox the 5-4 win.
In comments to the Virginia Herald, Matthews insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
