Sonics Come Back Late, Nip Continentals
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Atlantic City Sonics and the Chesapeake Continentals, Abakada Mana was the difference-maker. The Atlantic City right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 win. Atlantic City reliever José González got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Ramiro Valdés was tagged with the loss. Magnus Belli converted his 17th save in 17 tries.
Atlantic City needed the clutch hitting of Luke Kreijling to notch the win. The catcher hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Sonics on top, 3-2. For the game, Kreijling had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Winning makes the heart grow fonder -- for more winning," said Kreijling, cracking a smile.
Chesapeake has now lost 4 straight.
